Hitmen Lose to Dragons, 2-1
|
San Francisco Dragons starter Louie Varland turned in a top-notch performance against the Washington Hitmen at RFK Stadium. The result was a win for the Dragons, 2-1. Varland, now 8-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Mason Miller got the save, his 25th in 28 chances.
Riley Greene, who is tied for 10th in the FL in total bases with 218, had a direct impact on the outcome. Greene contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put San Francisco up, 2-0.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Washington manager John Anderson.
With the win, San Francisco raised its record to 71-45.
