Urias Slugs Riptides to 4-1 Win
|
The Carolina Riptides defeated the Minnesota Millers, 4-1, at IBM Field. Leading the charge for Carolina was second baseman Luis Urias. He went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Dylan Cease, the winning pitcher, improved to 14-7. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 1 hits and 1 run, while striking out 3 and walking 4. Matt Brash notched his 23rd save in 27 chances.
Urias had a timely hit for Carolina in the bottom of the sixth. With Carolina trailing 1-0, he turned a 1-0 sinker into a 3-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season, making it 3-1, Carolina.
Said losing manager Pierre Duschesnau: "The at-bats, obviously, needed to be better."
Carolina leads the Union League Eastern Division by 2 games.
