Minnesota got a terrific game from shortstop Nick Ahmed. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Carolina, 4-3, in 12 innings. Ahmed went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The Union League Eastern Division-leading Riptides are 67-50.

The Riptides got a clutch hit from left fielder Wilyer Abreu. In the bottom of the 12th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Riptides.

"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Minnesota manager Pierre Duschesnau. "The effort was great."
