Snakeyes Lose By a Run at Philadelphia
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Philadelphia Phalanx eventually prevailed.
The Philadelphia Phalanx picked up a win at Citizens Bank Park, downing the San Diego Snakeyes, 6-5. On the mound for Philadelphia was right-hander Alex Cobb, who played a pivotal role in the win. In 6.1 innings, Cobb surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Kevin Ginkel was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 16 of 21 save opportunities.
The Phalanx got a big at-bat from second baseman Romy Gonzalez. For the game, Gonzalez went 1-3 with a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 17th double of the season gave Philadelphia a 3-1 lead.
"Alex did a nice job," said Phalanx manager Stephen Esterhazy.
The Phalanx raised their record to 48-70.
