Spirit Win at Texas, 2-1
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Los Angeles Spirit and the Texas Vipers, pitcher Shinnosuke Ogasawara was the difference between victory and defeat. The Los Angeles left-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 2-1 Spirit win. The winner was Ogasawara. He threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Chris Bassitt. Patrick Sandoval was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 2 save opportunities.
Los Angeles used a clutch at-bat from Yu Chang to capture the win. The second baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Spirit ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Bottom line," said Texas skipper Pete Seto, "we didn't play well enough to win."
The Spirit raised their record to 41-76.
