Win Streak at 11 for Sting
|
The Seattle Sting weathered an outstanding game by Portland right fielder Max Kepler to topple the Jaguars, 4-3. Kepler was 2-2 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times. Corbin Burnes, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 4 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 16-3. Josh Hader got the save, his 33rd in 34 chances.
Seattle used a well-timed hit by Willy Adames to capture the win. The shortstop socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Sting ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
After the game, Seattle manager Jesus Cardiel applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
The Sting have now won 11 straight.
