Phalanx Bridle Firebirds, 4-3
|
The Philadelphia Phalanx weathered an outstanding game by Phoenix catcher Sean Murphy to topple the Firebirds, 4-3. Murphy went 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. Jackson Rutledge earned the win for Philadelphia. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 1-3. Kevin Ginkel was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 4 save opportunities.
Will Benson had a direct impact on the outcome. Benson contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Philadelphia up, 4-2.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Phoenix skipper Pat McGoldrick.
The third-place Phalanx have won 4 in a row.
