The Carolina Riptides picked up a win at IBM Field, courtesy of Denyi Reyes. The right-hander helped his team stop the New York Sharks, 3-2. The winner was Reyes. He threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Will Warren. Chris Martin converted his 1st save in 1 tries.
The Riptides got a big at-bat from third baseman Brett Baty. For the game, Baty went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Carolina a 2-0 lead.
Carolina manager Rob Hansen commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
The Riptides lead the Union League Eastern Division by 3½ games.
