Minutemen Earn 4-3 Home Win
|
The Boston Minutemen beat the Denver Bears, 4-3, at Fenway Park. The Minutemen got a fine performance from shortstop Jeremy Pena, who was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Michael King earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record is now 3-1. Drew Rasmussen, credited with the save, is now 21 for 28 in save opportunities.
Pena had a timely hit for Boston in the bottom of the seventh. With Boston trailing 3-2, he turned a 1-2 slider into a 2-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season, making it 4-3, Boston.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Denver skipper Aaron Hill.
With the win over Denver, the Minutemen improved to 59-60.
