Spirit Shut Out Hitmen, 4-0
|
Los Angeles pitcher Nick Frasso had a large part in his team beating the Washington Hitmen, 4-0. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Frasso yielded no runs over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 4-4. The third-place Hitmen now sit at 65-58.
Jesse Winker dealt the Hitmen a blow in the bottom of the sixth. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Los Angeles leading 1-0, Winker, who finished 2nd in the FL in on-base percentage with .402 in 2022, hit a first pitch fastball for a 2-run single.
"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager John Anderson.
