Riptides Earn 5-3 Home Win
|
Though he had a stellar game, Trayce Thompson could not prevent his team, the Houston Titans, from losing, 5-3, to the Carolina Riptides. Thompson was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Carolina reliever Pierce Johnson was the winner. His record is now 4-5. The losing pitcher was Dylan Floro. Chris Martin was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 4 save opportunities.
Dairon Blanco drew 2 walks in 3 trips to the plate for Carolina. The speedster had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off J.P. France. It was his 5th walk of the season.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Blanco, "and then get after it again."
The first-place Riptides, at 69-52, lead the Union League Eastern Division by 3 games.
