The San Diego Snakeyes picked up a win at Busch Stadium, dropping the St Louis Sluggers, 5-3. Nick Pivetta, who is tied for 4th in the FL in quality starts with 14, was the difference-maker. The winning pitcher was Pivetta, now 9-9. He tossed 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5. Garrett Cleavinger recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 10 for 14.

San Diego used the clutch hitting of Ezequiel Tovar to snag the win. The second baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Snakeyes ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Pivetta told the San Diego Today. "You win just by scoring more runs."

Today's win puts San Diego at 56-66, while St Louis falls to 60-63.
