Diamonds Sunk by Explorers
|
Chicago Explorers starter Mitch Keller found his groove in his team's 5-3 win over the Anaheim Diamonds. Keller yielded 2 runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 0. His record improves to 9-8. Jason Adam earned his 25th save in 32 chances.
Lane Thomas had a big 2-run double for the Explorers in the bottom of the third inning. With Chicago leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 26-year old left-handed pitcher Cole Ragans and swatted a double to left. It was his 21st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Explorers ahead, 4-0.
"I thought we played some darn good baseball," said Explorers manager Jim Smith.
Today's win puts Chicago at 60-64, while Anaheim falls to 60-62.
