Riptides Win Nail-Biter
The Carolina Riptides besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Baltimore designated hitter Starling Marte by beating the Wildcats, 7-6, at Toyota Field. Marte was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Carolina reliever Dedniel Nunez was the winner. His record is now 2-4. The losing pitcher was Paul Sewald. The win for the Riptides lifted their record to 62-60.

Ryan McMahon came through with a big-time hit for Carolina. The first baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 7-6. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"No one wins," McMahon said, "without the will to win."
