Minutemen Beat Houston, 6-5
|
The Houston Titans could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Luis Castillo into a win. Instead, the Boston Minutemen prevailed, 6-5. Castillo threw 6.2 innings allowing 3 runs. Kyle Harrison snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits over 2 innings. He's now 2-1 on the season. With this game in the books, Boston is 63-63, Houston 75-51.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Alek Thomas came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Houston pitcher Orion Kerkering, he hit a first pitch changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Boston on top, 6-5.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Houston manager Stephen Strzepek. "The effort was great."
