Riptides Suffer 5-3 Loss to New York
The Carolina Riptides could not turn a fine performance from shortstop Bo Bichette into a win. Instead, the New York Sharks prevailed, 5-3. Bichette was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Sean Manaea went 6 innings for New York to pick up the win. The left-hander was charged with 3 runs. He scattered 7 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 4. His record improves to 9-6. Anthony Bender got the save, his 1st in 5 chances.

Making an impact for New York was designated hitter Yoan Moncada. Yoyo drilled a run-scoring double off Eric Lauer in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, Moncada was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk.
