The Anaheim Diamonds racked up a win at Chrysler Canyon, bumping off the Portland Jaguars, 5-3. Cole Ragans, who started for Anaheim, pitched effectively for his team. Ragans, now 5-5, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Anaheim is 63-64 and Portland, with the loss, 67-60.
Anaheim used the timely hitting of Brandon Crawford to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Diamonds on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We did a lot of really good things and it was a good win," said Diamonds manager Michael Kirk.
