Texas Beaten, 6-4, by Houston
|
The Houston Titans beat the Texas Vipers, 6-4, at Pepsi Dome. Brandon Nimmo, who is tied for 4th in the UL with a .386 on-base percentage, starred for Houston. He was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win went to Brennan Hanifee in relief. His record improves to 2-3. Enoli Paredes took the loss. Orion Kerkering was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 24 of 31 save opportunities.
Houston needed the clutch hitting of Ty France to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Titans on top, 6-4. For the game, France had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Titans manager Stephen Strzepek.
After today's action, Houston sits at 77-51, while Texas falls to 57-71.
