Jaguars Lose as Riptides Stage Late Rally
|
The Carolina Riptides picked up a win at Chrysler Canyon, downing the Portland Jaguars, 5-2. On the mound for Carolina was left-hander Jordan Montgomery, who played a pivotal role in the win. Carolina is now 75-54, 7½ games up in the Union League Eastern Division.
Carolina needed the clutch hitting of C.J. Cron to seal the deal. The first baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Riptides on top, 3-1. For the game, Cron had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Montgomery attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
