Hogs Earn Late 3-2 Win
|
The Toronto Hogs took Los Angeles pitcher Roki Sasaki's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Nike Field. The final score had Toronto getting past the Spirit, 3-2. Sasaki went 6 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 10. Reliever Jesse Chavez picked up the win. His record improves to 3-3. Patrick Sandoval took the loss. Kenley Jansen recorded the save, making him 24 for 28.
Michael Harris II, who finished 5th in the UL in hits with 169 last year, had a direct impact on the outcome. Harris II contributed a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put Toronto up, 3-2.
Los Angeles manager Bobby Kirkpatrick, after yet another defeat, said: "We don't want to panic. At the same time, we need to stop the bleeding."
Los Angeles has now lost 11 in a row.
