Firebirds Prevail, 5-3, Over Boston
|
Chase Field was the site of a competitive game between the Boston Minutemen and Phoenix Firebirds.
Luis Matos was instrumental in his team's 5-3 triumph over the Boston Minutemen. The center fielder was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Phoenix Firebirds. Cole Wilcox snagged the win in relief. He goes to 8-3 on the season. Kyle Harrison suffered the loss. Garrett Whitlock converted his 2nd save in 4 tries.
Matos had a key at-bat in the bottom of the first to put Phoenix in front, 2-0. With the bases loaded, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run off Boston pitcher Kyle Harrison.
Matos called the win "a team effort."
Phoenix now has a record of 66-65 with the win.
