The Seattle Sting and Carolina Riptides rewarded fans hoping for a nail-biter.

Carolina got a terrific game from left fielder Wilyer Abreu. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Seattle, 9-8. Abreu was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Seattle reliever Connor Brogdon got the win, raising his record to 3-1. Alexis Diaz was tagged with the loss.

Seattle won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. With one out and Alexis Diaz on the mound for Carolina, designated hitter Shohei Ohtani hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Sting fans to their feet.

"Every win gets us closer to our ultimate goal," said Ohtani.

Seattle has now won 3 straight, while the Riptides have lost 3 in a row.
