New York picked up a win at Nike Field, bumping off the Los Angeles Spirit, 5-3. Pitcher Nestor Cortes was a major reason the Sharks emerged victorious. German Marquez, credited with the save, is now 3 for 4 in save opportunities. New York now sits at 62-70, while Los Angeles falls to 43-89.

Matt Wallner had a key at-bat with one out in the top of the fifth for New York. With the bases loaded and the Sharks leading 4-3, he grounded out, driving in 1 run.
