Bombers Earn Late 2-1 Win
|
Oakland pitcher Spencer Strider gave the Bombers all they could handle, but in the end, Bronx left Magnum Stadium with a win, 2-1. Strider allowed 1 run on 5 hits over 7 innings. Bronx reliever Jordan Hicks picked up the win, upping his record to 4-4. John Brebbia took the loss. With the victory, the Bombers record stands at 66-67.
The decisive blow was delivered by Yainer Diaz in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 34-year old right-handed pitcher John Brebbia to win the game for Bronx. The home crowd went nuts.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Bronx skipper Jeremiah Coggins.
