Firebirds Lose By a Run at San Francisco
|
The San Francisco Dragons picked up a win at Pac Bell Park, topping the Phoenix Firebirds, 6-5. On the mound for San Francisco was right-hander Dustin May. He played a principal role in the triumph. May, now 11-6, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Mason Miller notched his 28th save in 31 chances.
San Francisco designated hitter Kyle Schwarber contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 107th hit of the season and put the Dragons ahead, 6-0.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Schwarber.
San Francisco leads the Federal League Western Division by 3 games.
