Jaguars Lose Late, 7-4
|
The Pittsburgh Ironmen defeated the Portland Jaguars, 7-4, in Union League action at PNC Park. Ian Happ pulled his weight. The 7-year veteran was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Pittsburgh pitcher David Robertson got the win. He's now 5-3. Craig Kimbrel was tagged with the loss. Taylor Rogers was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 6 save opportunities.
Had Austin Hedges not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Hedges hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Ironmen.
"It never gets old," said Hedges. "Winning, that is."
The Ironmen go to 51-84 with the win.
