Mullins Hits 2 Roundtrippers, Sharks Win, 6-3
|
The New York Sharks began the 2025 season with a convincing 6-3 win over the San Diego Snakeyes at Shark Stadium. Most impressive was New York center fielder Cedric Mullins, who was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Tanner Houck picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-0. He struck out 4 in 6.1 innings. Blake Treinen got credit for the save for New York. It was his 1st of the year.
The Sharks got a big at-bat from right fielder Matt Wallner. For the game, Wallner was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave New York a 4-2 lead.
New York manager Nick Ruport praised his team's "businesslike approach."
