Sluggers Send Bronx Home with 5-3 Loss
|
Cristopher Sanchez, who led the FL in ERA with 3.04 last year, was locked in. The left-hander led the St Louis Sluggers to a 5-3 win against the Bronx Bombers at Busch Stadium. St Louis reliever Bennett Sousa picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. George Kirby was saddled with the loss. Robert Garcia, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
Taylor Ward hit a run-scoring double off George Kirby in the bottom of the sixth, which put the Sluggers in front, 2-1. In addition to the double, Ward had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"We've got a great group of guys," Ward said, "and we're having fun right now."
The Sluggers, now 2-0, have been playing some good baseball.
