PoorBoys 7-4 Winners Over Carolina
|
Though he had a terrific game, Bo Bichette could not prevent his team, the Carolina Riptides, from absorbing a loss. Montreal won the game, 7-4. Bichette went 2-4 with 2 home runs. The winning pitcher was 29-year old right-handed pitcher Jack Flaherty. He tossed 88 pitches over 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits. Felix Bautista got credit for the save for Montreal. It was his 1st of the year.
Gunnar Henderson had a big 2-run home run for the PoorBoys in the bottom of the third inning. With Montreal leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from Dylan Cease, who finished 3rd in the UL in ERA with 3.41 in 2023, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the PoorBoys on top, 4-1.
"Nice win for us," said Henderson. "Now we'll go after the next one."
Carolina is now 1-1.
