Oakland Wins, 4-3, Over Bears
|
In a close game at Coors Field, the Oakland Roses edged the Denver Bears, 4-3. Oakland third baseman Edmundo Sosa stood apart with his performance. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Oakland reliever Fernando Cruz, who led the UL in saves with 42 last year, was credited with the win. His record goes to 1-0. J.T. Brubaker took the loss for Denver. Denver is 1-1 after the defeat.
Sosa had an important at-bat with a runner on 3rd in the top of the sixth, when he hit a run-scoring single. The Roses went on to win.
"We were the better team," crowed Sosa.
