Cronenworth, Vipers Wallop Spirit, 10-1
|
Behind a solid performance from second baseman Jake Cronenworth, the Texas Vipers defeated the Los Angeles Spirit, 10-1. Cronenworth was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Vipers. Chris Bassitt earned the win to go to 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits, with 3 walks and 8 strikeouts in 7 innings of work. The win puts Texas at 1-1.
With Texas leading 1-0 in the top of the second, Cronenworth hit a curveball from Patrick Sandoval for a 2-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Vipers ahead, 3-0.
"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said Texas skipper Pete Seto.
