Philadelphia Stopped, 5-3, by Pittsburgh
|
Pittsburgh starter Matthew Liberatore pitched well against the Philadelphia Phalanx at PNC Park. The left-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. Liberatore, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 3 walks. Earning his 1st save for Pittsburgh was Andres Munoz.
Gleyber Torres had a big 2-run home run for the Ironmen in the bottom of the first inning. With Pittsburgh leading 1-0 and a runner on 3rd, he sized up a changeup from Zach Eflin, who finished 4th in the UL in ERA with 3.42 in 2023, and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Ironmen on top, 3-0.
"Feels good to get the job done," Torres said after the game.
Philadelphia is now 1-3.
