Hitmen Stumble, Losing to Millers, 5-0
|
Griffin Canning, who finished 3rd in the UL in innings pitched with 200.0 in 2024, was terrific for the Minnesota Millers in his team's 5-0 triumph over the Washington Hitmen. His performance earned Canning rave reviews. Canning got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 4 hits and walked 3 over 5.1 innings. He allowed no runs. The loss drops Washington to 2-3.
Minnesota first baseman Curtis Mead contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the second. With two down, he hit a slider to right-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 3rd hit of the season and put the Millers ahead, 2-0.
"Griffin pounded the strike zone and made good pitches when he needed to," said Minnesota manager Pierre Duschesnau.
