4-0 Loss to Millers Extends Portland Losing Streak
Portland got a terrific performance from pitcher Chris Sale, but it wasn't enough to beat the Minnesota Millers. Minnesota won the Chrysler Canyon contest, 4-0. Sale threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. DJ Herz earned the win to go to 1-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work. With the loss, Portland is 0-7.

Minnesota won the game in part because of James Wood. The left fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Millers ahead, 2-0. For the game, Wood had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

Afterward, Portland manager Darren Meserve said: "Every team has a bad week."
