Riptides 3-2 Winners Over Detroit
|
The Carolina Riptides knocked off the Detroit Demons, 3-2, in Union League action at IBM Field. Carolina pitcher and El Dorado Hills, California, native Robert Gasser had an outstanding performance. Picking up the save was 31-year old left-handed pitcher Gabe Speier. Detroit falls to 4-5.
The Riptides got a big at-bat from center fielder Brenton Doyle. For the game, Doyle was 2 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 4th double of the season gave Carolina a 3-2 lead.
Doyle called the win "a team effort."
