The Texas Vipers picked up a win at Pepsi Dome, dropping the Washington Hitmen, 4-2. Nestor Cortes was the difference-maker. Texas reliever Jorge Alcala was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Nic Enright. The Hitmen fall to 5-9 and continue to sputter in the early going.

The decisive blow was delivered by Jack Suwinski in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run home run off 28-year old right-handed pitcher Nic Enright to win the game for Texas. The home crowd went nuts.

Suwinski said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz."
