Hitmen Flatten Vipers, 9-2
|
The Washington Hitmen stopped the Texas Vipers, 9-2, at RFK Stadium. The Hitmen got a big game from Tyler O'Neill, who went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The winning pitcher was Joe Boyle. His record now stands at 3-0. The right-hander went 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits for the Hitmen. The Vipers, at 4-10, have stumbled out of the gate.
Keston Hiura hit a 2-run double off Yu Darvish in the bottom of the fifth, which put the Hitmen in front, 3-1. In addition to the double, Hiura had 1 single, while going 2 for 5.
"We've done a good job of late stacking success," O'Neill told the Washington Bulletin.
