Sharks Absorb 7-4 Home Loss
|
The Los Angeles Spirit knocked off the New York Sharks, 7-4, in Federal action at Shark Stadium. Los Angeles pitcher and Lexington, Tennessee, native Ethan Small had an outstanding performance. Small, now 1-2, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. Tom Cosgrove closed it out for his 1st save.
Los Angeles used the clutch hitting of Charlie Blackmon to snag the win. The designated hitter drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Spirit ahead, 6-2. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a crucial one.
"It feels good to get this one," Blackmon told the Los Angeles Bulletin.
The Sharks drop to 5-9, as their fitful start to the 2025 campaign continues.
