Led by Cody Bellinger, the New York Sharks defeated the Tampa Bay Bandits, 4-2. Bellinger hit 2 home runs for the Sharks. The winner in relief was Yusei Kikuchi. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-1. Aroldis Chapman was credited with the save for New York, his 2nd of the season.
The Sharks got a big boost from center fielder Brandon Marsh who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the first inning off Bandits hurler Justin Verlander. It was his 5th RBI of the season and put New York on top, 2-1.
Marsh attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
The win puts New York at 5-9.
