Dragons Earn 6-3 Home Win
|
The San Francisco Dragons picked up a win at Pac Bell Park, dropping the Los Angeles Spirit, 6-3. Shohei Ohtani, who finished 2nd in the UL in OPS with .993 in 2024, was the difference-maker. The winning pitcher was Ohtani, now 2-1. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 7. Getting the save was Griff McGarry, his 1st.
The Dragons got a big at-bat from catcher Willson Contreras. For the game, Contreras went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 4th home run of the season gave San Francisco a 4-0 lead.
"We did a lot of really good things and it was a good win," said Dragons manager Joe Turnage.
The win brings the Dragons to 9-6, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
