Roses Deal Carolina 4-3 Defeat
|
The Oakland Roses defeated the Carolina Riptides, 4-3, in Union League action at Fan's Ballyard. Oakland pitcher Steve Matz had a standout performance. Matz yielded 3 runs over 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 0, and struck out 5. His record improves to 3-0. Raisel Iglesias picked up his 8th save of the season.
Oakland second baseman Trevor Story contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a slider to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 15th hit of the season and put the Roses ahead, 4-3.
"It's about putting our team in the best position to win ballgames," said Matz.
Oakland is now 14-3.
