Titans Suffer One-Run Loss at Portland
|
Portland Jaguars starter Chris Sale led his team to victory over the Houston Titans, 2-1. The left-hander was locked-in. Sale, the winner, moves to 2-2. He threw 5 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 1 walk. The Jaguars with just their 5th win in 20 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Jaguars had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when second baseman Caleb Durbin hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Tomoyuki Sugano and made the score 2-0, Jaguars. Durbin went 2-3 with a double.
"I was just taking it batter by batter, just enjoying the moment," said Sale.
