The Oakland Roses and Washington Hitmen delighted fans at RFK Stadium.

Thanks in large part to center fielder Jake Meyers, the Washington Hitmen beat the Oakland Roses, 8-4. Meyers was 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Washington, now 7-14, is off to a slow start.

Rhys Hoskins, who won the CBA Rookie of the Year Award in 2018, came through for Washington with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. The designated hitter went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and collected 1 run batted in.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Hoskins told a Washington News reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
