Sting Stumble, Losing to Titans, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring game between the Houston Titans and the Seattle Sting, pitcher Chase Burns was masterful on the mound. The Houston right-hander spearheaded his team's 3-1 win. Burns, now 2-0, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 12, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. The Titans, now 15-7, have been playing some good baseball.
Houston second baseman Owen Miller contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a changeup to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 24th hit of the season and put the Titans ahead, 2-0.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Titans manager Stephen Strzepek, "I like our chances."
