Millers Lose at Home, 8-1
|
Detroit Demons pitcher Andrew Heaney was in top form, leading his team past the Minnesota Millers, 8-1. Heaney yielded 1 run over 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. His record improves to 3-1. Josh Winckowski got the save, the 1st for him this season.
Detroit designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton helped the Demons go up, 2-1, in the top of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Stanton hit a run-scoring single off Minnesota pitcher Clay Holmes.
"When Andrew is in the zone, it's kind of like -- good luck," said Detroit manager Marc Buffington.
Detroit, now 16-8, has played well in the early going.
