Riptides Stumble, Losing to Bombers, 3-1

The Bronx Bombers defeated the Carolina Riptides, 3-1, in Union League action at Magnum Stadium. Bronx pitcher Jack Leiter had a standout performance. The winning pitcher was Leiter, now 2-1. He tossed 5.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 7. Bronx goes to 12-13.
The Bombers had to work out of trouble in the top of the ninth. The score was 3-1, Bronx, with one out. Carolina, with runners on 1st and 2nd, was mounting a threat. Ezequiel Tovar dug in at the plate, but on a first pitch fastball, he hit into a double play.
