Sting Upend Bandits, 2-0
|
With designated hitter Shohei Ohtani leading the charge, the Seattle Sting defeated the Tampa Bay Bandits, 2-0, at Tony Gwynn Memorial Field. Ohtani, who finished 2nd in the UL in slugging percentage with .618 last year, threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. Josh Hader sewed up the save, his 3rd. Tampa Bay drops to 15-10.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Willy Adames? The Seattle shortstop had a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Sting on top, 2-0. For the game, Adames had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It wasn't a very good day at the ballpark," said Tampa Bay manager George Hoffman.
