Holliday Leads Spirit to Win
|
With second baseman Jackson Holliday leading the charge, the Los Angeles Spirit defeated the Toronto Hogs, 8-2, at Sony Park. Holliday, who is tied for 3rd in the FL with a .948 OPS, was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Los Angeles pitcher Zac Gallen got the win, upping his record to 2-2. Brock Stewart got the loss. Casey Mize picked up the save, his 1st.
Had Holliday not come through in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, Holliday hit a run-scoring single. The Spirit never looked back after taking the 3-2 lead.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Holliday.
Losses have been rare for the Hogs, who are now 19-6.
