Roses Shut Out Explorers, 3-0
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Oakland Roses and the Chicago Explorers. Oakland won it, 3-0. Oakland starter Eric Lauer was in command. In 6.1 innings, Lauer surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed no runs. The Roses, now 19-6, have been on fire in the early going.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Roses had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when right fielder Kyle Tucker hit a 2-run single. The single came off Aaron Civale and made the score 3-0, Roses. Tucker went 2-4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs.
"My gosh almighty, Eric was tremendous," said Oakland manager Herb Pilgrim.
