The 2026 season is getting uglier for Texas.
The Tampa Bay Bandits defeated the Texas Vipers, 6-2, at Tony Gwynn Memorial Field. Masyn Winn was a standout performer for Tampa Bay. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 double -- this in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 2 he knocked in. Tampa Bay pitcher Matt Strahm got the win, upping his record to 1-0. Connor Prielipp got the loss.
Winn had a game-changing double in the bottom of the eighth. On a full count cutter from Mick Abel, he banged a 2-run double to left, giving the Bandits a 4-2 lead. It was the 6th double of the year for Winn.
"We're in a little bit of a dry spell," said Texas manager Pete Seto.
The Vipers, now 6-21, continue their sluggish start.
