Phoenix Dealt 4-3 Defeat
|
The Seattle Sting picked up a win at Boeing Field, knocking off the Phoenix Firebirds, 4-3. Starting pitcher Eury Perez was a big reason why. The winning pitcher was Perez, now 2-2. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. The loss has the Firebirds at 15-12.
Pete Alonso had a big solo home run for the Sting in the bottom of the third inning. With Seattle leading 3-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a curveball from Reid Detmers, who finished 4th in the FL in strikeouts with 221 last year, and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Sting on top, 4-0.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Perez.
