Starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery pitched well enough to help the Carolina Riptides beat the San Diego Snakeyes, 7-6. Carolina reliever Phil Bickford picked up the win, upping his record to 8-4. Yennier Cano was saddled with the loss. The Union League Eastern Division-leading Riptides are 74-64.

Carolina took a 7-6 lead on Kody Clemens's 20th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Clemens hit in the bottom of the eighth, left San Diego pitcher Yennier Cano visibly frustrated.

"Jordan executed his pitches at a high level," said Carolina manager Rob Hansen.
